This has resulted in drastically improved throughput to the point where it is saturating my ADSL downstream link (~15Mb/s), and the engineer advises me that the host NAS is trying to push more down the pipe. I have since created the ShareSync connection using a DDNS name (set up in Control Panel > External Access > DDNS) and opened port TCP 6690 on both routers. Port forwarding UDP port 443 (and TCP port 443 for good measure as it is listed on Synology's ports list) didn't make a difference here. As one can imagine, waiting for acknowledgement every 14KB is not conducive to high throughput. The behaviour is such that it writes 14KB of data at a time before waiting for acknowledgement. It turns out connecting the two NAS devices in ShareSync via QuickConnect will initiate a connection using UDP port 443. So far, I am only achieving sync speeds of ~150KB/s, a fraction of your 10Mb/s (and I have a 20Mb/s upload limit).Įdit: Update since obtaining access to router on host side (or more accurately, access to a tame network engineer who has access to said router). Synology's list of ports used by it's apps lists "Cloud Station" as using port 6690, so I have forwarded this port in the router for my client NAS, but not yet in the router for my host NAS (I am currently waiting for access to that router). When I use EZ Internet or the Router Configuration section in Control Panel, there is no option for Cloud Station ShareSync, or any Cloud Station apps for that matter. I have also stopped the "Antivirus Essential" package on the receiving Diskstation, with no positive impact whatsoever. I have already checked for restrictions in Settings->Network->Traffic control, but none of the machines has any. What could possibly slow the process down and what can I do to improve the speeds? I would somewhat understand such slow speeds if we would be talking about thousands of small individual files, but we are talking about one exe file. The problem is that the sync of the exe file is very slow. Both Diskstations are connected to a reasonable internet connection (DS 716+II: 100 MBit/s Down | 10 MBit/s Up // DS 216J: 50 MBit/s Down | 10 MBit/s Up). The two Diskstations are about 600 Km apart and I use the Quickconnect feature on both to enable WAN access. So I am using Cloud Station ShareSync to Sync an exe file between my DS 716+II and my dads DS 216J.
